Welcome to this rather random roleplay I have decided to create. Here's a warning though: this is my first roleplay, so it might be a little bit...not so good. But anyway, ignoring all that, here is the storyline that it will start on...
'The world, in the fifty years that you have passed, unnoticed, has been nearly destroyed and almost every city is in complete ruin. You sense that you have slept, yet you feel no dregs of sleep. Your surroundings are unfamiliar. The walls seem to resemble a very basic room. You look outside and see ______*. You notice for the first time that there is a note in your hand, from a mysterious person who calls himself 'M' in the note. It reads: 'Dear stranger, There is nothing to do. The world is lost, and it is unlikely to rise again. You have been in sleep for fifty years, unaware of the past that you were never part of. I leave you one gift, and one gift only. And a leave you one goal. Find the others like you, and rebuild the world. Do the impossible. Each of you has something special. A skill. A power. Find it, and perhaps you will succeed. But if not...the future of this world looks grim. -M'
*you can choose what you see! But please make it realistic and something to do with a ruined future. Please do not make them too different, since its kind of hard for someone in a volcanic landscape to meet someone in the middle of the ocean.
RULES: - Keep in mind that this is a more of a science fiction roleplay than a fantasy roleplay so its not like there are immortals or fairies or anything like that. Your power can be unrealistic but not completely OP - e.g. the ability to heal anything, never starve, never die of thirst, and be able to make castles out of thin air. Really, those would be overpowered. - While creating your character, don't make him/her too perfect. E.g. too pretty or too nice or too flawless. Your character must have at least one potentially fatal flaw. - Your power must be USEFUL. There's literally no use in the ability to change your toenail polish colour, so don't even think of that. - Please be detailed. We need to know EVERYTHING to make this a good roleplay... - Please do not make your character evil, since this is supposed to be one of those roleplays where everyone, at some point, has to unite. This does not mean that your character has to be nice, they can get angry and stray from the group or think that this is useless. I've got no problems with that. P.S. Evil characters CAN be planned, but please tell me what they're going to be like and why you think it's necessary. Besides, I will plan a, er, thing that will have to be defeated. When it comes to it. - Make sure your power is unique and your personality relates to it in some way. This is important. We *quote* Wouldn't want a nice, cute, sweet and girly little girl to have a power of fire now, would we. *unquote*. - Make your character an old enough age to take care of themselves. it would be hopeless if we had a 3 year old in this, wouldn't it? - Try not to stray from the general storyline, which I suppose will go as the roleplay goes on. Don't do anything really ridiculous, alright? - Please give your opinion on how the roleplay is going regularly. I'll set up another thread for that. Also, on there, please give your character's name etc. so I know who you are. - If you're a girl, you can have a male character. If you're a boy, you may have a female character. But only ONE character please. I'm not meaning this to become a HUGE roleplay with fifty people on it. (once this forum is more populated) - Be. Creative. The words speak for themselves. That's quite enough rules for now!
To submit a character, use the form below... Forum Name: Character Name (can be similar to forum name): Personality: Power: Appearance: Age: Useful Skills: Main Weapon - this is your gift (apart from power): Fatal Flaw: Surroundings (where you found yourself):
[glow=red,2,300]If there's anything I've missed out, please notify me! Thanks! Also, I will say when the roleplay can begin. [/glow]

Ember's Perspective: I sighed in relief as I awoke. I'd been plagues by nightmares the entire night, of war, of death and of everything that I had feared. I tried to wake myself up, but I couldn't. Not that I felt tired - exactly the opposite in fact! It was an unfamiliar sensation - to wake up, but not even feel tired! I started to focus on my surroundings. A small room, made of concrete, windows yellowed and sinking. I could remember a sentence from some book I'd read: 'Glass is not a solid, but in fact a slow-moving liquid...' Probably explained the windows. But still, I couldn't fathom where I was. Little could I remember my own past - only facts and figures. Had I gone on a trip and fallen asleep? It was morning, and I could feel the sun's light brightening my surroundings. 'The light actually takes 7-8 minutes to arrive...' Another useless piece of information. I had to find out where I was - and why I was here - fast. The clothes I wore were strange. I never remembered getting them - but then again, I didn't remember anything useful. Apart from speaking and all those stupid facts that I really didn't want to know. So much for that, then. As I stood up, brushing ash and dust off myself, I could just see a piece of paper. Paper...a letter, maybe? Filled with a new excitement, I skimmed the piece. "Dear stranger..." My own voice was unfamiliar. how could I not know my own voice? Quickly reading the rest of it, I wasn't sure what to think. True or false? Hard as it was to believe, I had to accept it until I found proof. I picked up my 'gift'. A small silver dagger with a...black diamond in the hilt? I gasped. It looked valuable...though I couldn't understand why. It just did. Cautiously, I dropped the note back onto the floor and stepped outside. I didn't know how shocked I'd be. The city was in ruin. It was as if a disaster had struck here. 'Damage from high magnitude...' Managing to stop my thoughts from wandering, I explored the place, wishing for more warmth than the dim rays of the sun could give me. Pulling out the dagger, I inspected it. Shining, silvery, shimmering slightly...reflecting from the sun's rays maybe? Strange. I didn't think that they were that strong yet. Only when I turned around did I find the fire that was licking at the vines. "Help!" I cried, expecting a reply. but all I heard was the resonating echo of my own voice. Edging towards the source, I realized that I could smell no smoke, feel no heat. Yet...it was fire, burning so steadily. As I approached it, though, trying not to show my fear, it diminished. Vanished, after a few seconds. It was something I couldn't figure out. But that wasn't important. I had to know what had happened. And fast. There was no time to waste.

Azure's POV
The world slowly became less blurry as I opened my eyes. It was then when I realized I was lying on stone cold ground for the first time. Contrary to normal, I didn't feel tired; instead, I felt energetic and alive!
The room I was in was made of concrete and stone, slowly crumbling away. Moss and ivy grew and cobwebs covered the room. Through the tall window I could see the sun shining into this room. When I looked outside I saw that this room was the room of a tower, the only thing that still seemed to stand besides the thick green forest about a mile away. Everywhere around the tower was bits of stone and rubble. There seemed to be no sign of human or animal life for a thousand miles. Am I really alone?
Suddenly, I tripped over a...sword? What was this doing here, I wondered. It was long and sharp, made of a strong silver metal with an unusually ornate handle. At the bottom of the handle was a round and shiny dark ink green jewel. In the sunlight I saw that there were flecks of blue in the stone. This must be a labradorite, I thought. Labradorites aren't exactly the rarest gem, but I like them nonetheless. After admiring my new weapon, I noticed a piece of paper, yellowed with age. A letter perhaps?
'Dear stranger,
There's nothing to do. The world is lost and is unlikely...'
I re-read the note over and over again, to make sure I had read it right. Fifty years? Had it really been that long? But that doesn't matter right now. I just need to get out of here. I headed for the door and opened it, hoping to find some way down. But when I opened the heavy wooden door(rotting with age and termites), I discovered a set of broken stairs, unsafe as every step was on the verge of crumbling into dust.
"HELLO? ANYONE OUT THERE?" I yelled out the window, not even thinking of the irony as there probably wasn't anybody around. Silence followed. Then, the tower suddenly shook, as if an earthquake had happened. As it came crashing down to the ground I leaped out the window with the sword just in time to see it fall like everything else around it.
"Oh wow", I said to no one in particular, "did I just do that by yelling?"
A tree came crashing down and landed in front of me. It seems like I break things whenever I talked. I'm not sure if I should see that as a blessing or a curse, but I'd better stay quiet.
There's just me out here. Just me and my new sword. Time is running out.

Emerald's POV:
I blinked a few times, my eyes slowly opening as I adjusted to the light. I groaned as I felt I was laying on something hard. I rubbed my eyes, feeling more awake than usual, it felt as if I had slept for years. I took a deep breath as I pulled myself up from where I was sleeping and scanned my surroundings.
It seemed to be a normal village but most was in ruins. Houses had their windows either broken or bricked up. Slates from the roof were on the floor smashed into many pieces. As I looked around again I realised no one else was around.
"Hello?" I asked quietly, hoping for someone to respond. After several minutes of silence I tried again.
"Hello?" This time I spoke up a little louder however no answer was given. I sighed and decided I would search this place further. I trudged my feet across the concrete ground and kicked the occasional rock until I found a little envelope accompanied with a small package on the ground. Both looked damaged but brand new.
I bent down, another groan escaping my mouth and my back began to ache. First I picked up the envelope. I looked around making sure no one would see me.
"Who am I kidding..no one's even here.." I muttered as I opened the envelope.
Dear Stranger, There is nothing to do..
I read it over a few times trying to take it all in. Sighing I picked up the small cloth and removed it to find a small dagger in there. I scanned it and noticed a weird looking symbol engraved onto the handle.
I placed it in between the belt of my jeans and the jeans itself, giving it a place to stay. I reread the letter again, my eyes drawing to the words A skill. A power. What did it mean by that? I stopped, took a sharp breath, and began walking.
The whole skill thing might be revealed in time but for now I need to find other people like the letter says.

Calamity's POV...
This was not a dream. Calamity woke up to a calamity ever so great, it surprised even her. Calamity had no idea where she had been before, or before that, or where she had been before before that, and so on, but she was really here now. This was not a dream. Calamity was pretty sure she had been sleeping before this, and she must have been dreaming something...
Where was she? She seemed to be in a forest of some sort... Calamity knew she must have seen a forest before, but this one seemed... different. Haunting. Like there was a force here, greater than her. Powerful. Dangerous. Feisty and all around nasty. Something you should avoid at all costs...
Calamity stretched and brushed herself off. She felt like her limbs hadn't been used for a long time, very stiff. Or maybe it was just because she had been sleeping on this dirt ground.
Calamity gave the whole forest a 360 degree look over. Her eyes finally settled on a large rock. Calamity walked towards it, gazing at the other things in the forest on the way. She stroked the bark of the trees as she made her way to the rock.
It was more of a large stone than a rock. Deeply inset inside it was a throwing spear, stuck inside with it's handle the only part showing. It was jet black with a pink sapphire inset in the handle.
Calamity vaguely remembered some medieval tale of a man who pulled sword out of stone and became king. Calamity grasped the handle and pulled gently. No fireworks, epic music, or french horns, just an annoyed, 'PLOP!" as the throwing spear popped out of the stone. Calamity stroked it's smooth edge and tucked it into the belt on her dress.
Her dress was a normal, black goth dress. It had a makeshift pocket made from a belt with an extra piece of cloth like a pouch. Sitting down on a tree stump, Calamity suddenly noticed a piece of paper peeking out of her pocket. She pulled it out and unfolded it.
Dear stranger, There is nothing to do. -M'
A power and a gift.
Calamity sniffed the air. She could even smell the tension. She could also feel a rising sensation, a tugging, in her chest. Like something was pulling at her core. A giant mound of earth suddenly rose up from the ground. The earth rolled off to reveal a small owl. He was a baby, completely adorable. But he was dead. You could tell from his eyes. There was something not quite right about them. Hollow, lifeless... dead. Maybe this was her power... Calamity wondered... Making the dead rise.
The owl flew over to her and perched on her shoulder. He nipped her ear playfully. "I'll name you Dylluan." Calamity had no idea where the name had come from, it had almost popped out of her like the throwing spear from the stone.
Calamity sat down and explained everything to the little owl. Dylluan would be her friend, companion and ally. Calamity and Dylluan set off on their first adventure together...
Find civilization.

Abelina's POV....
I woke up laying on something soft, but it wasn't moss, I slowly turned over and got up. A moan came out of my mouth, I looked at my back and saw wings, suddenly, I didn't feel so weak, I was frightened. How in the world did I get wings?. I slowly walked over to a broken window, when something hit my feet. "What's this?" I opened the box with a puzzled look. It read.....Dear Stranger, there is nothing to do. The world is lost and it is most likely never to rise again. You have been asleep for fifty years, unaware of the past that you were never part of. I leave you one gift, and one gift only. And I leave you one goal. Find the others like you, and rebuild the world. Do the impossible. Each of you has some thing special. A skill. A power. Find it, and perhaps you will succeed. But if not......the future of this world looks grim. -M. What was that supposed to mean? I flapped my wings and the wind blew. "Interesting" I walked outside and shouted. "Hello? Is anyone out here?" Suddenly a dove flew by and landed on my shoulder. "I guess I'll call you...Athena."(Probably was no need to put the entire letter.)

Dylluan was looking eagerly ahead through the trees. Calamity could feel a pain in her side from walking so much, but she ignored it. This forest seemed to go on FOREVER!
Suddenly, Dylluan began to get jumpy. He nipped Calamity's ear... harder this time. His lifeless eyes glowed happily.
Calamity felt happy too! The forest was beginning to clear and give way to a ruined village that seemed to be completely empty.
Well, this was pointless... Calamity thought. I'm no better off to being in the forest.
Dylluan and Calamity began to wander aimlessly through the village. Calamity couldn't decide what might have happened to it... bombed? or maybe it was just really old.
Calamity was about to sigh and sit down in defeat when she suddenly though she saw someone up ahead. Could she have found someone?

"Hello?" I shouted again. I thought I was going crazy because I saw a person. And maybe an owl. I floated towards them. "Hello?" Athena flew towards that person, and supposedly greetd them.

As I walked deeper into the forrest, careful to be quiet, I heard a voice calling? Could there be anybody else around here? No. I fly solo. I am capable of being independent. No. I've never been accepted as a team member and why would I start now? I'll rebuild the world on my own. Before I can run the opposite way, they see me. Two of them.

I heard footsteps and flaps of wings. Confused I walked towards the sound trying to realise what it was. I took little steps with caution, my hand floating around the dagger in case it was needed. I squinted as I saw a figure in the distance. With a few more steps I could see most of the person. Should I approach them? I looked to the right to see a bird perched on a stone.
I took a deep breath and wondered aimlessly, trying to give them impression I hadn't seen them.

I heard Athena squak her heart out. I turned around and saw a girl. I ran to her. She looked frightened by me. "Don't be afraid of me, now did you get that letter?"

(Sorry for not posting, was at trip!) Ember's POV: I traced my path in the air, covering every bend. Giving a crude half-smile, I headed in the direction of a small stream next to my resting place. Downhill. Easy. I had almost expected some kind of challenge... The path I took led into a pine forest, cold and dark and forbidding. Taking my dagger, I scratched a single line into the nearest tree, determined to one day return. If I could return. As I turned away, I saw something flash in the corner of my eye. Whipping around, dagger already at hand, I cried, "Who's there? Show yourself!" But I got no response from the hill. Looking back towards the forest, I noticed that the line I had drew shimmered and changed form. In four crudely written letters was the word 'HELP'. Strange. That's what I wanted. That's what I needed. Maybe...no, it seemed impossible, but I tried it. Crouching, I outlined a fire in the air, letting the metal catch the sun. Running backwards, I watched in amazement as a small golden flame erupted from the ground. Still in shock, I turned away and ran deeper into the forest, determined to get away from the sorcery that lay here. But as I got deeper into the forest, the light from my blade only shone brighter. As if it was trying to tell me something. Into the distance, I shouted, "Anyone there?" For a few frightening seconds, only my echo replied. Then I heard a small scuffling sound coming from behind a row of bushes and trees. Should I go? This decision could either lead me to someone or kill me. Taking a deep breath, I continued forward. If they wanted to get me, they'd have to find me first.

Someone else is here, I realized, hearing a rustle among the bushes. I may prefer to be alone and independent, but I suppose having a friend or two wouldn't hurt. And if there are more people still alive here then we'll all end up meeting and banding together as allies at some point. That, or they meet up and decide I'm an enemy. I approach the other side of the tall hedge like bush with the sword in my hand just in case. And there she was. A girl about my age, with raven black hair. She was dressed in all black and white and in her hand was a dagger with a black gem on the hilt, the blade just as shiny and sharp as my own. Should I dare meet her?
