I could probably tell better stories than those Suethors when I barely knew how to spell 'because' and that's probably saying something because English is my second language.

Yeah they're writing style and actual plot and grammar isn't the best.

So, you'd say it's not the best. I'd have to say it's horrible.

The worst part is that half the stories have supposedly good reviews. I know it's all a matter of personal opinion but when you read a crapfic worthy of Tara Gilesbe with reviews like "OmGZzzZ11!!1one!! DiSSss ZTORY iSxss orSUm!!!111obiwankanobi!!!1111"....

I think of it as a mystery worthy of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
No seriously. You'd think a writer would at least try, right? And even if they really are troll, then WHY. If your main objective is just to get flamed, then you are pathetic as a so called writer.
I'm not exactly talking to Suethors because I understand that maybe the writer is just inexperienced, like I once was and still might be. But they should be educated on this stuff. I don't know about other countries, but why don't they teach people about this in school? Maybe teachers don't see it as important as knowing what an assonance is or learning how to write write an analytical essay about Lord of the Flies, or maybe it's because Mary Sues are more of a recent thing. Or maybe they don't see it as something they should waste their time on. But if you go on Fanfiction Net or any other story writing website a lot, you may find that unrealistic characterization is a growing problem despite the people out there who know.

I agree with everything Pinky said and I thing that gets to me is the spelling, like I don't have word document on my laptop so I use notepad when writing my stories so it doesn't have spell check but if I'm not sure how to spell a word I use a different one or check the spelling online but that's with longer words or more complicated ones but some of these people misspell the character's names (i mean if you're writing a book about at least know the names of the character's your dealing with) simple words which even a toddler could spell (for example in Harry's sis" she misspells name). It depends but sometimes with these crapfics some of the words they spell wrong are so simple I want to smack my head against the wall.
Oh and another thing I hate (this is so common with One Direction fics) "I walked into starbucks and ordered a coffee, when walking outside I knocked into Harry Styles who brought me a new coffee and then asked me out"
Reasons why I hate this: 1) It's repetitive, if I had a pound for everytime I saw that, I would have at least £100 2) It's so unrealistic. Like where are the bunch of fangirls, and Harry Styles doesn't live in starbucks 3) If that ever did happen who knows maybe he would buy you another to apologise but asking you out after you just saw each other for 2 minutes like seriously.
(Oh I just rambled on about things we weren't even talking about woops)

And I agree with what Misha said.
I especially hate those Sues written into fandoms where the people actually exists like a music fandom of some kind. At least in a fictional world fanfic the Suethor knows deep down that the world is fictional and all they can do is dream. But because 1D is an actual band of five actual people....
List of things I hate in fanfiction 1) Mary Sues 2) Really crappy grammar. 3) Mary Sues 4) When Suethors go hardcore fangirl mode in A/Ns. Seriously, I don't care if you're supposedly 'Orandooo BLooMMm'z #oNnEeee fUn!!11!onering1!!!!!'. That makes me want to flame your crapfic even more. 5) Did I mention Mary Sues? 6) Cliche-ness. 'And then we..... ...... ...... .....kissed!1!!!11"

Other stuff I hate
7) Gary Stus. But they're not as common as MARY SUES. 8) Self inserts 9) OOCness. "And then Draco said "don't worry even though you're a Muggleborn Hufflepuff I'll always love you" and then we kissed" is just....WTF?!?! 10) Did I mention Mary Sues? 11) Trolls who do nothing but seek attention aka flames. 12) M.A.R.Y.S.U.E.S. do I need to say more?
