You know you have it. You know that you can do nothing about it. You know that you must keep it a secret.
Magic.
In a world where magic is totally, strictly illegal, you possess a strange power - your family had renounced magic (or maybe even, not) but that did not stop you from having it. That is all you know. To harness it, for you, is so impossible, as is trying to avoid using it. In other words, it is simply beyond your control. That is all you know.
For now.
Ok, so straight into business this time. I hope you enjoyed that hopelessly uninformative background of your character, now it's time to explain this roleplay. So, basically, you're a fairly young person, you have powers, and you don't know how to control them. It is set in an alternate world but technology still not highly developed, still rather old-fashioned, still ruled by a Queen or King - you get the idea, right? Well, anyway, magic exists, but is believed to be too dangerous and altogether outlawed. It was once something that was amazing and just decorative, but since the murder of a king was done using magic, everyone has believed it unstable and unsafe. Your family has apparently officially renounced magic - but this is not as true as you'd think. The magic is still kept alive - and you have now inherited it. You must decide whether you escape or rot on the island. But be warned - if you are caught as a so-called magician, you are sent to the prison - no one knows where it is, and even if they did, they probably wouldn't be foolish enough to try and rescue you. But there's also one more drawback: since magic was proclaimed illegal, you have a spell deep inside you that is dangerous - dangerous enough to kill, and override your better magic. You don't know why that is.
Your family? After magic was made illegal, many assets have been taken from your family, leaving them on an island - not far from the coast, but even so, it would be stupid to try and cross over. You are almost completely self-reliant, the island as well as the buildings are slowly but surely crumbling. So, basically, I'm trying to say that the families are generally in the same place - or, at least, the children (aka your characters) are. Altogether, you make quite a powerful group. But will that work to your advantage or disadvantage?
Make the choices yourself.
There is now no right or wrong.
Ok! Now you're going to hate me for adding all these short and annoying rules...(you refers to your character)
1. You cannot wear anything that would be considered modern
2. You cannot do anything that involves inventing a modern device
3. You must not be a Mary Sue
4. You must not be a Anti Sue
5. You must not be a highly 'goffik' person
6. You must have good spelling/grammar (or as good as possible)
7. You must not have any strange growth (e.g. wings or cat ears)
8. You must not know what the terrible spell within you is
9. You must not be completely amazing at magic without any training
10. You must not stay on the island since that ruins the point of the rp
11. You must be talented at at least one form of magic
12. You cannot be ridiculously rich
13. You may live with another character's family, on the same island
14. You cannot have the same abilities as another character
15. You cannot say anything that uses modern slang
16. You must wear a dress (sorry! In those times, it was considered inappropriate to not do so!)
17. You must include a detailed background
18. You cannot have a wand/broomstick or anything that is of that genre...
19. The magic mentioned in this rp is more like a developing magic, usually done by movements and chants rather than the waving of a wand
20. You cannot have mysterious amazing healing powers
21. You cannot revive other characters from death
22. You may create OCs but check with me first
23. If you want to be related to another character, check with the creator first
24. If you want to be younger than 10, check with me first
25. If you want to be older than 16, check with me as well
26. So I'd recommend between 14-16 for your character's age
27. You may not make your character be overpowered - you know, do everything...
28. You must not kill another character without asking for permission first
29. You must not kill yourself without checking with everyone else that it will not overly affect the plot
30. You cannot have the spell inside you help in any way
31. You must have a major flaw
32. The more powerful the magic, the greater the flaw
33. Do not try to write like Shakespeare. Please.
34. Do not do this: LOL!!!!!!!!111!!!!1!
35. Do not do this: and liek, liek, he was liek...
36. Do not post gigantic images
37. Do not use gigantic images as your 'rp' 'writing'
38. Do not double-post
39. Do not triple-post
40. Do not...I think you get the idea now.
41. Do not form a love triangle/any shape without asking permission first
42. Don't fall in love at all if you can help it
43. Remember the age of your character - even if this is a couple hundred years ago style roleplay, children don't talk like adults...
44. Do not randomly leave
45. Do not try to express another character's emotions for them
46. Let others react before over posting
47. If you and another person post more than one page - whoops. Everyone else probably has no idea what you're doing
48. Do not mysteriously embark on a journey to another country
49. Do not somehow grow odd mutations from your body
50. Do not stray from the 'plot' - it will develop, and your character must develop with it.
51. Have fun. This rule seems to be mandatory.
Yeah...hope you enjoyed! Please note that the rule about Mary Sues is the most important.
